About Us
Pan010%20forweb.jpg

We live in Coppercliff(Sudbury), Ontario in Canada. My husband Mike is an undeground miner and musician on the side. I am a certified pet groomer and I own my own grooming salon called PuppyLove Pet Salon & Spa. We are very proud of our Irish heritage which is why we chose the name Boru. The last name O'Brien mean of Boru . Brian Boru was the last high king of Ireland . Boruuuuu..... is also the sound that bloodhounds make , so we thought this was the perfect name.

I have always wanted a bloodhound. I come from a long line of animal lovers. My grandfather Ken was a horseman having numerous horses come and unfortunately go through his hands, his favourite breeds were the Percheron and the French Canadian. My mom was also a dog groomer that grew up with many different breeds of dogs and actually showed poodles long before I was born. I grew up being taught proper "dog ethics" and also knew someday I would find the breed for "me". I thought long and hard about the bloodhound for almost 10 years and the more I read ,the more I was interested in the breed. I knew they required a lot of patience, determination and time so I thought about following in my mother's footsteps. The reason I chose to be self employed was to be able to take my dogs to work everyday and be one on one with them as often as I could. I made sure our life was secure and ready before we brought a dog into our lives.

My first bloodhound Odin was purchased in 2006.Odin's breeder taught me many things such as; make sure you buy from a reputable breeder. Luckily for myself Odin has been a wonderful introduction to the breed. I wanted to be able to show Odin but looking at his pedigree and the bloodhound standard, I decided to have him neutered and not start off on the wrong foot. I purchased my second bloodhound Anya in Jan 2007 from our friends Patrina & Dave McBride of Cufola kennels.  I finished Anya's Canadian Championship quickly  all owner handled. Anya placed in the top 10 for breed points in Best dog in Canada.  When Anya was 2 1/2 after I completed her Ofa testing I bred her to CH Tracersown Hyllbillies Arlo who was born in 1988. This breeding was a surgical insemination with forzen semen. There were 10 beautiful puppies born June 10th 2009. Most of the puppies were placed in companion shomes with wonderful Families.  Anya's son Boru's gin soaked boy won 2 best puppy in group! Esme the puppy bitch I kept finished her championship quickly winning Breed/Best of winners over more mature dogs, winning puppy group group placements and finally Best Puppy in Show! We are so Proud of  Esme and have Susanna Anderson , Joan Atkinson, and Patrina Mcbride to thank!

We have Also had much success in the ring with our young Prince Jereth. Jereth is Major pointed in the U.S winning at a speciality show. He finished his Canadian Championship with all Majors and Group placements including a Group 1st!

Our Long term Goal in this breed  is to be involved with the breed is all aspects for the rest of our lives. We hope to preserve and protect the best breed of dog by careful selective breeding, proper placement of puppies and educating others about the Bloodhound. while continuing to learn throughout our days, as learning never stops!
We breed for all important qualities ; Correct Conformation( structural quality and breed type), Temperament, Health, Longevity and Genetic integrity.  Our Goal is to breed the standard  for a true bloodhound  that has a beautiful head , correct noble dignified epression, sound temperament with a structural sound  well muscled body that can not only float around the ring  but stay on a trail all day.
