About Us
Pan010%20forweb.jpg

We live in Coppercliff(Sudbury), Ontario in Canada. My Fiancé Mike is an undeground miner and musician on the side. I am a certified pet groomer and I own my own grooming salon called PuppyLove Pet Salon & Spa. We are very proud of our Irish heritage which is why we chose the name Boru. The last name O'Brien mean of Boru . Brian Boru was the last high king of Ireland . Boruuuuu..... is also the sound that bloodhounds make , so we thought this was the perfect name.

We are owned by two wonderful  bloodhounds (Anya & Odin). We plan on being owned by more when we finish building our home on the farm. My father and his wife have a beautiful peice of paradise 40mins out of town. There is 250acres and we our fortunate that they are giving us a small peice. Although my Father has alot of space, he only has 30 head of catttle and 2 dogs!

I have always wanted a bloodhound. I come from a long line of animal lovers. My grandfather Ken was a horseman having numerous horses come and unfortunately go through his hands, his favourite breeds were the Percheron and the French Canadian. My mom was also a dog groomer that grew up with many different breeds of dogs and actually showed poodles long before I was born. I grew up being taught proper "dog ethics" and also knew someday I would find the breed for "me". I thought long and hard about the bloodhound for almost 10 years and the more I red ,the more I was interested in the breed. I knew they required a lot of patience, determination and time so I thought about following in my mother's footsteps. The reason I chose to be self employed was to be able to take my dogs to work everyday and be one on one with them as often as I could. I made sure our life was secure and ready before we brought a dog into our lives. My first bloodhound Odin was purchased in 2006.Odin's breeder taught me many things such as; make sure you buy from a reputable breeder. Luckily for myself Odin has been a wonderful introduction to the breed. I wanted to be able to show Odin but looking at his pedigree and the bloodhound standard, I decided to have him neutered and not start off on the wrong foot. I purchased my second bloodhound Anya in Jan 2007 from our friends Patrina & Dave McBride of Cufola kennels.  I am currently showing  Anya towards her Canadian Championship, I am told we are quite the team, so far it has been very fun and exciting for both of us. I cannot tell you how fun and rewarding it is to show your dog, even if you are a novice. One of the best parts of showing is meeting others bloodhounds and their owners.

In the futur I hope to further my knowlegde of the breed and one day be a part in producing bloodhounds that will be an asset to the breed in showing, mantrailing and companionship. I hope to become more involved in tracking with Odin. Breeding is a long term goal, I have spent the last few years reading pedigrees, OFA clearances, and following certain bloodlines, I hope to continue on my learning journey so that when the day comes I can make an educated and informed decision about breeding my first litter. Everyone starts somewhere Mike and I realize we are in this for life, so we are in no hurry. We have great mentors helping us along the way. As years progress I'm sure this page will have more information an stories to share!
